MORTUARY ESCAPE: DELTA COMMISSIONER FOR LANDS CHIKA OSSAI ALMOST LYNCHED TO DEATH FOR GIVING STATE LANDS TO HIS GIRLFRIENDS AND CROONIES AS GIFTS

Reports reaching our news desk has it that one of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s aides may have been in the mortuary today as there was alleged pandemonium today at Umusadege community, kwale in Delta state where the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Honourable Chika Ossai was nearly mobbed by enraged youths who accused him of giving out family lands at Umusadege in kwale, as gifts to his political associates and girlfriends during a routine exercise carried out by his ministry.

The youths in their numbers claimed that the allotted lands which belongs to Umusadege community was shared by the commissioner to his political friends, girlfriend, people across the Niger, workers in his office and other political office holders without the consent of the community, with the portion of land allotted to each person ranging from 100/100 to 100/200 according to personal relationship with the commissioner.

It was also alleged that while the Honourable commissioner was allotting the plots of lands, some youth leaders and the councilor representing the community got wind of the activity, and angrily mobilized youths to the scene to challenge the authority of the commissioner who on sighting the crowd, ran into his car and fled to Asaba with his convoy.

SecretReporters reached out to Mr. Chika who debunked the alleged incident, emphasizing that no such thing occurred while he was at Umusadege community as it was quite impossible for him to be mobbed or lynched in his home community.

He disclosed to our reporter that some of the youths only approached him and appealed to be considered for land allocation, and he simply adviced them to follow due process by applying for approval through the state government as the names of the beneficiaries has long been compiled back at the ministry because it was not in his power to freely give them land, his job he reinstated was just to allocate.

“There was no kind of molestation, there was no kind of embarrassment, we just discussed and they left. I think I encourage the leaders for their good job because they were not angry, they were not quarrelling”, stated the Commissioner to our reporter.

He also revealed in the conversation, that the ministry still has more than 300 hectares of land to be allocated as they only mapped out just 140 plots of land which cannot even be allocated in one day because as humans, they only work with their strength and capacity and as such not everyone will be attended to in a day.
