CONDOLENCE MESSAGE: AMLSN SYMPATHIZES WITH NIGERIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OVER LOSS OF MEMBERS

The National President, Alh Toyosi Y Raheem, on behalf of the NEOs and the entire members of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) received with rude shock the devastating news of the death of 6 members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and a driver along Abuja- Kaduna road en route Sokoto. This is indeed, a big blow to the entire health sector given that it happened at the time the health sector was in dire need of passionate professionals to actually strengthen the health system in Nigeria.

Our sympathy goes to the entire members of NMA, Ekiti State branch of NMA, government, the people of Ekiti State and the families of the deceased medical doctors. AMLSN recalls with pains and sadness, the occurrence of same carnage barely two months ago on the same road where it claimed the lives of former minister of state for labour and employment, his wife and the son! Many productive Nigerians had also been lost to these avoidable road carnage.

It would be recalled that AMLSN in her communique at the end of her conference in Port Harcourt in November, 2015 expressed concerns on the deplorable state of roads in Nigeria.

We appeal to governments at all levels in Nigeria, to pay attention to the deplorable conditions of all the roads in Nigeria so as to put an end to this avoidable loss of lives.

May the souls of those who died be in perfect peace and may God give NMA and the families of the departed ones, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss-amen!
