STAY AWAY FROM JUSTICE MARY ODILI; GROUP WARNS DAKUKU PETERSIDE AND RIVERS APC

Our attention has been drawn to the text of a press conference by the defeated candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Rivers State governorship election, Mr. Dakuku Peterside.

Ordinarily, as a group we would have ignored the rants as that of a frustrated and prostrate loser of an election he was poised to win. But being that the APC candidate has become a prodigal son of the South South, who for a mesh of pottage is ready to give up his paternity and that of the entire people of the Treasure Base of the Nation, we feel compelled to respond to his innuendoes and serious allegations without iota of proof or collaboration.

First, Dakuku Peterside should feel redeemed by the fact that Governor Nyesom Wike has ‘adopted’ him as a son given his capitulation on the altar of justice. For him to drag the Hon Justice Mary Odili and the Supreme Court as an institution into his woeful lamentation, is to say the least, appalling, crass and dangerous to the sanctity of the judicial system in Nigeria.

For him to regurgitate second hand information as statements of fact, is to demonstrate how badly the judgment of the apex court has dealt with his psyche.

For the avoidance of doubt, Justice Odili has earned her place on the Bench through the ranks and not a single malfeasance has been adduced to her except that which exists in the jaundiced minds of people like Peterisde.

To suggest that the Hon. Justice Mary Odili ‘compromised’ the legal process at the Supreme Court for Wike to be justifiably returned as governor is to suggest that all along, Peterside and his pay masters had compromised all the legal processes but the apex court.

We however do not hold that to be true. Justice Odili was never near the panel that sat over the matter; Peterside cannot in all honesty say he believes the lie which delusion has compelled him to dish out.

It is on this note that we ask Nigerians to ignore the mischief of the Rivers APC governorship candidate and call on him to expeditiously retract his bellicose statement or we would be persuaded to institute legal action against him for criminal libel and defamation.

We of the South South Pen Pushers are witnesses to the unfortunate insults, abuses and trash that were thrown at former President Goodluck Jonathan and he bore it with the grace and dignity of his high office. Governor Wike has not abused President Buhari and will not. If he says that riggers would burn, it is a corollary from what an APC chieftain, Senator Bola Tinubu once said. Is the APC planning to rig the Rivers rerun legislative poll? If no, then, Peterside and his party men have nothing to fear.

On the whole, we urge the Rivers APC, Peterside and all their foot soldiers to refrain from any untoward act or speech against the Hon. Justice Mary Odili.
