WE WILL NEVER MARCH ON THE STREETS TO PROTEST EKWUNIFE DISQUALIFICATION FROM SENATORIAL RACE; SICKLERS ROARS

Sicklers in Anambra State under the aegis of Association of People Living With Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) have rebuffed the recent reports alleging that they embarked on protest in the street of Awka to condemn the Appeal Court judgment that nullified the election of Senator Uche Ekwunife of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.

It would be recalled that Appeal court sitting in Enugu recently sacked Senator Ekwunife and ordered for rerun of the said election in 90 days after hearing the petition brought before it by Chief Victor Umeh, who was candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, at the election.

Reacting to the report published on FIDES newspaper, mouthpiece of Catholic Diocese of Awka dated Dec. 20-26 2015 Edition, under the heading ‘Group Marches for Ekwunife’, APLSCD, who spoke through its Coordinator, Aisha Edward condemned the report on its entirety describing the report as malicious and war inciting authored by a person from a pit of hell.

She said: “Our attentions have been drawn to a particular publication in one of our respected newspaper. We want to use this opportunity to tell the members of the public that we are unaware of such protest. It is from the writer’s imagination. He writes from a pit of hell. I believe there must be a mixed up error somewhere. I condemn this writer. He is unkind and unjust to my person and my Group in general. How can someone fabricate a story to smear our image?

“Why must someone think or write that we embarked on a protest? Are we politicians? How can we trek and protest with our legs that are very fragile considering our ulceration? Must these people rubbish our self esteem and image before they can consider helping or supporting us? If that is the case, then i will advice them to take back such a devils gift! Because We can’t expose ourselves to such danger. Again we are not a political group In fact, what are we protesting for? What is our business with the judiciary in that regard? Please people should disregard the report. We demand for retraction from both the writer and the newspaper in next edition of their publication else we take legal action against those involved in this unthinkable criminal and inhumane act.

“Also, we want to warn members of the public and political class not to use this young association to the detriment of its members. We will resist any attempt to smear our image. We respect the press. But why must a right thinking member of society sponsor this kind of report against us? I am convinced in my mind that Senator Uche Ekwunife will not do this kind of thing. We hold her at high regard, yet we are pleading on her aides and whosoever that was part of this wicked report should never use us for selfish political gain”, rather than doing this just to score cheap political points, rather provide us with a but for our smooth sensitization campaign on genetics status and moral crusade, There is no way senator Ekwunife would allow us to walk on the dusty streets of AWKA with our legs let alone going on a protest, Get us a bus! And stop this charade of pitching us against the Government and other powerful Individuals. Aisha warned that anyone or group that undermine her person or her group should be rest assured of God’s punishment without Mercy.
