In what may signal the end for the Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Mr Joshua Okpo due to damning corruption hanging on his head which will be reported exhaustively in due corse by this medium, a group by the name, Coalition of Oro Nation Community Youth Leaders has come to rescue him by issuing a press release in his defense.
In a meeting held at Villa Demia Hotel, Oron, the President of Coalition of Oro Nation Community Youth Leaders, Comrade Joseph Afaha, flanked by the Secretary, Comrade Kenneth Asuquo and Idungikan Uweh Esq, observed that “the frustration and desperation of Oro Youth Movement (OYOM) was not unconnected with its failed attempt through spurious, malicious petitions in the past four years against Amb. (Dr.) Joshua Okpo’s administration to tarnish and smear his image and reputation in order to frustrate his reappointment but were now burying their heads in shame.
Comrade Afaha who wondered why OYOM was bent on its devilish, malevolent activities, expressed dismay over the group’s unrelenting war against the Rector of the Academy whose giant strides in the areas of infrastructural renaissance, human capital development and staff and cadets welfare, among others, have deservedly earned him a second term of four years by President Buhari.
Comrade Afaha particularly warned one Comrade Joseph Ekong Enam and one Comrade Victor Mkpofor, who shamelessly parade themselves as President and Secretary of OYOM, using Citizens United for Peace and Stability as their platform, to desist forthwith from hate campaign, character assassination, mudslinging and fictitious write-ups against Amb. (Dr.) Joshua Okpo, whom the traditional institution had earlier placed a curse on any individual or group of individuals who would distract the Rector from driving the Academy to the apogee of greatness, particularly the envisaged degree-awarding status.
The Coalition of Oro Nation Community Youth Leaders said it was worrisome that OYOM was resorting to faking documents, structures and names of staff of the Academy to paint a picture of the Academy in a very parlous condition all in a fruitless attempt to discredit and impugn the integrity of the Rector, who has repositioned the Academy and placed same on the path of growth and progress for global competitiveness.
Comrade Afaha stated that it was unfortunate that OYOM through its tribalised posturing was portraying Oro Nation in bad light as a people who do not welcome visitors in their domain when Oro sons and daughters all over the country were working unhindered and without distractions from indigenes of such places.
The Coalition of Oro Nation Community Youth Leaders further reminded OYOM and self-seeking and self-styled politicians to re-channel their unproductive energies into more fruitful ventures that would benefit Oro Nation as the Academy was not a political platform but a specialized, high technical institution with a clear-cut mandate to train seafarers and marine engineers for the maritime and allied industries.
They, however, advised one Comrade Joseph Ekong Enam and one Comrade Victor Mkpofor to desist from peddling rumours and falsehoods sponsored by idle politicians who are crying for diminishing relevance in the scheme of things in the Academy”, their press statement read.
However, Secrets Reporters who is in possession of various documents obtained by it and two other media can authoritatively confirm after fact finding that the fraud carried out by Mr Okpo is no false alarm but a true reflection of the happening in the school. These damaging financial documents our eagle eyed sources within the academy confirmed to be true and not fake as depicted by the youth body defending the Rector.
*** Stay tuned for the series of monumental corruption and embezzlement carried out by the Rector and his corrupt allies.
