The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Ghana Chapter is ready to host Urhobos and Nigerians in Ghana in an event titled ‘Urhobo Progress Union inauguration/workshop with the theme, “Don’t jettison the Urhobo Culture”.
The event which is billed to take place at Kama Conference Center, Accra on December 13th 2014 will be playing host to over 1000 people both within and outside Ghana. We gathered that the National President of UPU, Joe Omene has been invited for the programme.
This is coming barely some days after the National body shot themselves in the foot by jettisoning the culture they are meant to preserve to play politics of bribery which later backfired on them.
The Union founded in 1931 initially set out to defend the Urhobo culture and people wherever they are but have deviated from the original plan of the founding fathers by using it to enrich themselves.
