The Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello may have relieved his official photographer Seun James Taiwo of his job Kogi Daily learnt.
Taiwo is said to have taken the photo shot that landed Bello in trouble concerning the double PVC registration saga which Bello vehemently denied. The Architect turned photographer is said to have apologised to the Governor and deleted the photographs but it was too late. Bello directed that Seun be relieved of his job despite the plea.
A look at Seun’s social media profile by this reporter who is a fan of the talented documentary photographer shows he has removed ‘’official photographer to Governor Yahaya Bello’’ from most of his social media profiles.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had formally accused the governor of registering for permanent voter card twice, in violation of federal electoral law. This was after the photograph which is said to have been taken by Seun went viral on Social media with opposition youths asking questions.
The electoral body said Mr. Bello acted “illegally” to have registered for voter’s card in Abuja and Kogi, but said it could not take action against the governor because he is constitutionally protected from prosecution while in office. An allegation which Bello denied stating he was out of the country and therefore wouldn’t have committed the crime. Bello stated this when he spoke to State House correspondents in Abuja observing a two-raka’at Juma’at prayer at the Aso Rock Mosque.
Seun James Taiwo is an architect and a photographer. He is a graduate of architecture from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and recently finished a Master’s degree in Environmental Design from the same institution. While in school; he picked photography as an art and have since then been working on a photographic documentation of man in relation to his immediate space.
