Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and current Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, is one of such individuals who’ve helped himself with public funds

Secret Reporters learnt from a reliable source that the former governor is currently constructing a five star hotel at New Obutong Street, opposite First Avenue, State Housing Estate by Mirage, Calabar,Cross River state.

A visit by our reporter to the scene revealed that work is ongoing at the site 18hours a day, with state of the art equipment being earmarked for installation at the hotel upon completion. The Hotel according to a source was initially owned by the De Facto Governor of Cross River State, Frank Ayade before Akpabio allegedly took over.

The Senate Minority Leader, who’s reputable for his ostensible lifestyle and affluence, reportedly owns properties worth billions of dollars in choice locations all around the world, while the government is unable to bat an eye because of his influence in the Nigerian political scene.

Efforts to reach Chief Akpabio were unsuccessful as his phone numbers were switched off as at press time.
