LORD OF THE RINGS: DESOPADEC MD, MAKINDE AND CHAIRMAN, EBOSA SETS FOR SHOWDOWN OVER N360 MILLION FRAUD

Secrets Reporters

The staff of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Communities (DESOPADEC) should be getting ready to separate fight soon, over what a source described as “executive boxing and kung fu”

This is not unconnected with the sum of N360 million singlehandedly doled out to Daily Independent Newspaper by the board Managing Director, Mr Williams Makinde.

According to one of our sources within the board, the approval for such princely sum ought to be given by the board Chairman, Mr Godwin Ebosa, but this was not to be, until Secrets Reporters exclusively broke the news and Ebosa got to know.

We gathered that Makinde later took it to Ebosa for final approval, despite already paying N100 million to Daily Independent, but the Chairman refused. According to our sources, Ebosa wondered why an ordinary newspaper like Daily Independent which is not read by ten thousand Nigerians will be given such sum of money for advert, and ordered that it be reversed which was not done by Makinde.

Meanwhile, Makinde Special Assistant on Media, Mr Prince Orhomonokpaye has refuted Secrets Reporters claim that the MD squandered such amount of money in irrelevant ventures. The statement which was sent to some print media was however filled with lies and also depicts that Makinde or Prince do not read before releasing press statement.

In the rebuttal by Makinde, he stated that he did not embezzle the sum of N1.5 billion of DESOPADEC money from Sterling bank as reported. According to Secrets Reporters editor, Mr John Eneh; the medium never stated that he embezzled such money; rather the money was seized by Sterling bank as loan borrowed the board to pay contractors.
