With the continuous rise in corruption cases among public officers and the adverse effect on the Nigerian Economy, this online media has continued to beam its touch light on public officers.

A recent investigation has revealed how a public officer violated the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act (CCBT) through a contract racketeering scheme to the sum of ₦168,203,062.15.

Discovery by SecretsReporters revealed that Chijioke Amara Nwizugbe, a staff of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, violated the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act for public Officers through a contract racketeering scheme to the sum of ₦168,203,062.15.

Chijioke, while serving as a staff of a government University, was part of the key management personnel of Zenith-Leeds I. C. Limited, a company with which he used to receive a contract.

Findings show that on 26 December 2023, the company, Zenith-Leeds I. C. Limited, received the payment of ₦23,559,523.81 from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the Supply of 100 numbers of canal modular 44 body armour level 3 to the national headquarters of the NSCDC.

30 May 2023, Zenith-Leeds I. C. Limited also received the payment of ₦85,570,550.00 from the Accountant General of the Federation for the supply of grinding machines for Kogi state for the implementation of “Snelei”

Finally, on the 12 of May 2023, the company received the payment of ₦59,072,988.34 from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation for “n2,055,332,424.00 premium to (12) insurance underwriters iro group life assurance for the year 2022/2023 ifo federal government employees. as per aie no. a01-00008651”.

It was discovered that the company, Zenith-Leeds I. C. Limited has four key management personnel, including Chijioke Amara Nwizugbe. He was once a Personal assistant to Hon Chris Azubogu, House Of Representatives National Assembly Abuja, and currently works as an administrative assistant at the medical Library Nnewi campus of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The CCB Act kicks against a government official owning or running a private company while employed as a full time government staff. However, such laws do not apply if the company or business is in the farming sector.
