IPC CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION OVER DEATH OF JOURNALIST TITUS BADEJO

The International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos – Nigeria is calling for a thorough investigation over the gruesome murder of Titus Badejo, a former radio presenter with Naija FM, Ibadan, who was murdered by unknown gunmen on Saturday, in Oluyole area of Ibadan at about 11:30 p.m.

Report from frontpageng.com, reveals that, “when Badejo was leaving Club 407 with his friends in his car around 11: 30p.m, two masked men on a motorcycle suddenly stopped his car, wielding a gun and asked all of them to lie down. He was the only one shot by the gunmen, who left immediately without taking anything or touching the other occupants of the car.”

The Executive Director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade said, “The death of Titus Badejo is very unfortunate and should be thoroughly investigated. The spate of insecurity in Nigeria is worrisome and calls for immediate action. It is really unfortunate that journalists have become easy targets and prey to the enemy.”

IPC therefore calls on the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State to take adequate and swift measures to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and apprehend those who murdered the journalist.
