The Labor Party candidate, Great Ovedje Ogboru who had earlier colonized Uvwie Local Government Area as his stronghold finally lost it on Thursday to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, when he took his campaign train there to preach his message of prosperity.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, a Chieftain of the locality assured the PDP that they can no longer support an opposition and be cut off from the benefit of being inside the government caucus. He assured the team that deliberations reached states that Okowa should be given One Hundred Thousand (100,000) votes in the February 2015 election.
Mounting the podium, Okowa expressed joy at the manner in which he was received, promising to reciprocate if they give him their votes. He stated that he knows that he will get 100,000 out of the 148,000 votes of the electorates leaving the remaining forty eight thousand for the duo of Ogboru and All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor to divide among themselves,
He promised that the flyover being constructed in the city will be completed by Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan, while he will build on existing structures. He also pledged to build more roads within the city, while ensuring that the restless youths are made to undergo technical education training to enable them gain employment.
“Peace has returned, so it is time for us to move in development to Uvwie”, he declared.
In Warri South, where the campaign held at the Warri Township Stadium, Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan was on hand to tell the people to collect their permanent voter’s card and come out enmasse to vote for Okowa.
The governorship hopeful told the overwhelming crowd on his desire to turn Warri into a real modern city. The jubilant crowd crowd kept shouting, “Okowa, Okowa, Okowa”, as they struggle to touch him.
