Secret Reporters

As the Local Government Councillors of Ukwuani continue to cry out over the missing sum of N10 million allegedly diverted by the Chairman, Mrs Ndudi Benedicta Osakuni; findings by Secret Reporters has uncovered how the money was spent.

The local government we gathered got the sum of N22 million as February allocation, out of which the council boss fondly called Lady BB was alleged to have paid out only N11 million, while pocketing the remaining ones.

When contacted on phone, she told Secret Reporters that she could not have embezzled such amount of money when there are pressing issues to do for the council. She stated that she’s a victim of political witch-hunt from some forces who do not want her on the seat for unknown reasons to her.

Our independent investigations revealed that the remaining sum of N10 million was budgeted for running the secretariat, which include buying of Diesel to power the offices, as there is hardly supply of power from the general grid.

Other areas which gulped the money we can report authoritatively is the payment of casual staff, which is not always captured with payment of permanent staff.

The Obiaruku festival which was usually peaceful almost turned bloody this year, as youths came with machetes to ferment trouble and disrupt the occasion. To forestall bloodshed, we gathered that Mobile Policemen in their hundreds from two divisions were mobilized to secure the place, and this caused the council some amount of money, while the rest of the money will be used to fund ongoing capital projects, we gathered.
