Absurd! Nigeria Transport Ministry Constructs Single Gate With N209 Million

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, under the Federal Ministry of Transport supervised by Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that it constructed a single gate with two hundred and nine million naira (N209, 000,000.00) in 2021.

According to data mined from Open Procurement Portal, the institute, under the stewardship of Bayero Salih Farah as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, awarded the contract to Kidibul Nigeria Ltd for the “Construction and remodeling of Main Gate at the Nigerian Transport Technology”.

The original budget for the project was Two Hundred Million Naira but the project was, however, executed with Two Hundred and Nine Million Naira

A check on the profile of the company that executed the contract revealed that it is owned by a former House of Representatives member, Robinson Uwak who is currently a major stakeholder in the ruling All Progressives Congress.

KIDIBUL NIGERIA LTD was incorporated in ABUJA, Nigeria with Registration Number 1193485. It was registered on 28 May 2014 and its current status is unknown. The company’s registered office address is NO. 21, AGADEZ STREET, OFF AMINU KANO CRESCENT WUSE NULL, ABUJA, F C T. 

Uwak is a former House of Representatives member, who represented Oron Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2015.

He was a member of Buhari’s 2015 presidential campaign council where he served with the likes of Boss Mustapha, Hon. Abike Dabiri. Babatunde Fashola, Ismael Ahmed, etc. In 2019, he was also appointed into the Buhari’s Presidential Campaign Council. Uwak was drafted into Youth Mobilization Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council to be in charge of mobilization of Akwa Ibom State youths for the President’s reelection.

It is germane to note that Uwak formed Kidibul Nigeria Ltd while he was a Rep Member. Meanwhile, only civil servant on a part time basis are permitted by law to engage in or participate in the running of a private business as directors or a private company.

What is the status of Kidibul Nigeria Ltd on CAC?

A check on the Corporate Affairs Commission shows that KIDIBUL NIGERIA LTD is not active. According to CAC, “A company that has not been filing its financial returns within a specified time is classified as inactive,” which implies tax evasion – a crime against financial regulation law
