The Ondo state government, in a recent development, has refused to pay workers who supervised the food vendors for its school children feeding program, a vital campaign initiative of the APC led Federal government, which spans across 18 council areas of the state.
One of the supervisors who pleaded anonymity disclosed to Secret Reporters that for over five weeks, the state government has refused to pay them for the services they rendered to make sure that over 3,000 food vendors who supply meals for the project comply to standard hygienic procedures to ensure the safety of no fewer than 450,000 school children who are the beneficiaries of the project in the state.
The supervisor, who spoke with Secret Reporters, also revealed that apart from the huge sum of money the federal government allocated to the state for the project, Ondo state government collected N4,000 (Four Thousand Naira) from each food vendor contracted for the program.
In his statement made available to our reporters, he also alleged that one Mrs. Ademosun, a Senior Special Assistant to the state governor and her avaricious committee members in collaboration with the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. Oni, has repeatedly refused to pay them after several request for their payment.
The school feeding program, an APC campaign propaganda which is partly funded by the Federal government is reportedly billed to run till 2020 and will form the cornerstone of the nationwide Home-Grown School Feeding program which when fully realised is projected to provide a meal per day to over 24 million primary school children nationwide.
