Information at our disposal has shown that, desperation has hit Yahaya Bello’s camp, as supporters threaten to burn down Tribunal Judge’s Vehicle.
Reports are that, the resumption of the Kogi State Governorship Tribunal Sitting in Abuja did not go on without the usual aggression from the supporters of Governor Yahaya Bello. Crisis started when the Head of the Tribunal, Justice Halima admitted the results of the recounted ballot and forensic evidence.
This according to sources did not augur well with Bello’s Lawyer, JB Daudu SAN, who protested that he wasn’t present during the inspection of the ballot papers and results sheets. Justice Halima overruled him, reminding the court that enough time had been given for all parties to examine the forensic evidence.
When information started trickling outside, the Bello Supporters numbering about 300 started chanting war songs and threatening the police officers who were on guard.
They went as far as breaking windscreens of vehicles around the court premises and beating supporters of Capt Idris Wada who were within the vicinity of the court premises.
The violence did not stop there. They insisted on burning the official vehicle of the tribunal Judge, citing her bias towards Yahaya Bello, since the outset of the Tribunal.
It took the intervention of Armed Mobile Police men who were deployed from the Force Headquarters to calm the situation.
Despite the intervention, Bello’s supporters kept throwing stones in the direction of the Judge’s vehicle and raining insults on the visibly shaken court staff.
Recollect that, the Tribunal was moved from Lokoja to Abuja for security reasons.
Despite the relocation, Bello’s supporters remain defiant and are hell bent on using violence to destabilize the legal proceedings.
