The Force Headquarters’ has commenced investigations on the various political killings and corrupt practices allegedly perpetrated by the immediate past Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu. Others under investigation for the various political killings and fraud in Imo State include Uwajumogu’s aides namely his Chief of Staff, Mr. Kodichi Anamekwe, Emeka Ahaneku, Dan Orji etc.
This was sequel to an earth shaking petition and revelation by popular Socio-political Crusader Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha on the 26th of June 2015. In the petition, Citizen Samuelson gave details of how Pastor Emmanuel Adoba, Mr. Kingsley Nkemka, Mr. Chidi, Corporal Chinedu, etc (All Uwajumogu’s aides) were brutally murdered, and fingers pointing in the direction of Speaker Benjamin Uwajumogu, Kodichi Anamekwe, Emeka Ahaneku, Dan Orji. Also, in the said petition, the activist gave details of how One Architect Franklin Okoli was brutally murdered on the 3rd of June 2014, by five boys reportedly sent by Ex-Speaker Benjamin Uwajumogu and his aides to assassinate him (Samuelson), but who ended up killing the said Architect Franklin Okoli. To cover up the crime, Uwajumogu connived with the Imo State Police Command led by CP Abdulmajid Ali to accuse Citizen Samuelson and his wife of the murder. The activist and his wife were later remanded in Prison custody where they spent 11 months and 6 ½ months respectively before Almighty God rescued them by ensuring that the charges against them were quashed at the High Court 4 Presided over by Hon Justice Irene Duruoha Igwe on the 27th of April 2015.
The Force Headquarters’ is also investigating the various contract scams involving Ex-Speaker Uwajumogu and his aides especially the dubious Road Contracts Scams, Ghost Workers Scams, Financial Assistance Scams etc. They would want to know how Ex-Speaker Uwajumogu abandoned his duties of Law Making, Oversight, and Appropriation, only to embark on road contract awards.
It is on record that Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on the 18th February 2014, exposing the various methods Ex-Speaker Uwajumogu and his Aides used to loot Imo State blind.
Although the EFCC Commenced investigation on the matter, Ex-Speaker Uwajumogu visited the Commission on the 28th of March 2014 and reportedly had an ‘’’’understanding’’’’ with the former Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, which made the Commission to suddenly stop the investigation. A reminder letter by Citizen Samuelson to the Commission, warning of the consequences of aborting investigation mid-way, propelled the Ex-Speaker to send the five assassins to go and kill the activist on the 3rd of June 2014 but who ended up killing the said Architect Franklin Okoli.
The Force headquarters is therefore investigating the abandoned EFCC investigation on Uwajumogu’s fraudulent activities. To this end, Citizen Ikenna Samuelson has made an exposing handwritten statement dated 6th December, 2015 to the Force Criminal Investigating Department, FCID indicting Uwajumogu and his aides. Also Senior Force CID Officers have stormed Imo State and are presently being taken round, to physically identify the properties Uwajumogu and his Chief of Staff acquired with proceeds from the fraud they committed while in office.
How Uwajumogu’s elder Sisiter (Chidinma) used her two Non-Government Organizations to defraud the Imo State House of Assembly would be unveiled during the current investigation. According to Citizen Samuelson, a department in the Office of the then Speaker Uwajumogu, GENERAL DUTIES DEPARTMENT, was used to Siphon millions of naira from the Accounts Department of Imo State House of Assembly. Emeka Ahaneku signed out, all the funds in that Department for Miss Chidinma Uwajumogu.
The Officers have also visited Uwajumogu’s private residence at Umuguma Housing Estate to effect his arrest. At the Ex-Speaker’s residence, they met his absence. However, a letter of invitation was dropped with his House helps. The officers also visited Emeka Ahaneku and Kodichi Anameku’s residences and letters of invitations dropped. The Senior Police officers from Abuja also visited Government House, Owerri and reportedly had discussions with Governor Rochas Okorocha and his Chief of Staff Hon. Chief Uche Nwosu.
Meanwhile, serious pressure is being mounted in high places to forestall the arrest of Uwajumogu, Anamekwe, Ahaneku, Dan Orji etc. for onward movement to Abuja. Citizen Samuelson is also facing intense pressure by some forces, to back down on his current move. But the activist says that he will never be intimidated or cajoled to abandon what he has started. According to Citizen Samuelson, “I am in contact with the Presidency and other Authorities. The fight against corruption and political killings must be fought to its logical conclusion. President Buhari said that he would investigate political killings in this Country. So I am only assisting Mr. President to make the burden of investigation lesser” unquote.
On a related issue, the Independent and Corrupt Practices Commission, (ICPC) has commenced investigation on how Ex-Speaker Uwajumogu diverted Salaries, allowances and other entitlements, including Vehicles belonging to Hon. Walter Uzonwanne, who represented Oguta State Constituency in the 7th House of Imo State House of Assembly. The Anti-graft agency extended four invitation letters to Ex-Speaker Uwajumogu, before he went to Honour the invitation last Friday. He was detained for three days and later granted bail on Monday 14th December 2015.
