ONUESOKE COMMENDS OKOWA FOR CHECKING IMPENDING FLOOD

Onuesoke Foundation has commended governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his steps taken so far to avoid the impending flooding in riverine communities as predicted by Nigerian Metro logical Agency.

The head of Operations of Onuesoke Foundation Mrs Igho Patience Pearl who made the commendation when Onuesoke Foundation Climate Team visited some riverine communities in Ndokwa East during the mid month environmental sanitation exercise declared by the state government on Saturday August 15th,2015 noted that the environmental sanitation was a right decision in checking the impending flood in the riverine areas of the state even as she expressed worries for the prediction of the metro logical agency.

Mrs Pearl who disclosed that their visit was an awesomeness campaign on the issue urged riverine communities in the state to support the governor’s effort by ensuring that that their drainages are regularly cleared and to also avoid erecting structures on natural water water ways in order to avoid the ugly incident of 2012 where most riverine commodities were submerged by flood

She further charge the Environment Ministry to partner with reputable NGOs in the state to enable the state to embark on massive tree planting programme and climate mitigation effect.

She again disclosed that the foundation will continue the awareness exercise to Delta Central and South this weekend where it will continue the one million ‘tree planting target’ before June 2017 ” that will enable our state to access the carbon free fund of the United Nations”

Pearl then appealed to the Delta State Government to partner with Onuesoke Foundation to complee the one million tree planting target.
