Lecturer By Day, Contractor At Night: Osun State University Don, Ezekiel Oluwole Ajayi Illegally Makes N814 Million From Federal Coffers Through Contracts Awarded To His Company, Igaby Lussy Nig Ltd

A lecturer in the Department of Business Administration, Osun State University, Ezekiel Oluwole Ajayi has been found complicit in contract racketeering to the tune of nearly a billion naira. 

Data buried on Govspend revealed that since at least 2019 when former President Muhammadu Buhari was in power to this 2024, the administration of President Bola Tinubu, the University Don, Ezekiel has through his company, received series of payments amounting to the sum of N814,949,859.53 from different agencies and ministries of the Nigerian government. 

The transactions details have it that the payments were for contracts awarded to Igaby Lussy Nig Ltd by ministries and agencies such as Federal ministry of education, Universal basic education, Federal ministry of aviation, National social investment office, National primary health care development agency, Centre for management development. 

For instance, on 13 February 2019, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution experienced an outflow of ₦16,729,237.80 in favour of Igaby Lussy Nigeria limited as payment for “capacity building for traditional and community leaders in alternative dispute resolution in Gaya/Albasu/Ajingi fed constituency of Kano, State”.

On 01 April 2021, the Universal Basic Education Commission experienced a debit of ₦12,334,110.70 in favour of Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited as payment for the “Construction of fencing and land scaping of z memorial academy for off Obehira-Lagos road, egge road, Kogi State”.

On 08 April 2021, the Universal Basic Education Commission rewarded Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited with ₦11,615,175.00 as payment for the “Supply of furniture to Tafabi primary school, bade lga, Yobe North senatorial district Yobe State”. 

Records have it that on 18th February 2022, the Universal Basic Education Commission made a transfer of ₦13,367,494.18 to the account of Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited as payment for the “Construction of one (1) block of two (2) classrooms with office and store at Miftahul Ulum Mallawa, Toro, Bauchi State”. 

We gathered that on 24 June 2022, the Federal Ministry of Education transferred ₦74,595,638.11 to Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited’s account “Being payment for the rehabilitation/reconstruction of “burnt offices and corridor of the podium m 2nd floor of fme Abuja”.

On November 2, 2022, the Federal Ministry of Aviation experienced an outflow of ₦13,007,250.00 in favour of Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited “Being payment on contract for the supply of sundry items”.

For Ezekiel’s Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited, 2023 was a year of harvest as records revealed that the company received series of contracts from the federal coffers last year.

For instance, on 07 May 2023, the National Social Investment Office transferred the sum of ₦57,546,795.30 to Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited “Being 100% payment for the supply of machine and equipment for set-up of 5 states m&e office in south-east geo political zone”.

On 18 September 2023, the sum of ₦58,757,504.26 left the account of National Primary Health Care Development Agency in favour of Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited as payment “For printing and supply of monthly routine immunization vaccine utilization report form (vm3)”. 

On 20 December 2023, the Universal Basic Education Commission paid ₦45,379,125.00 to Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited for the “Supply of instructional materials to three (3) locations of (1) juggol bolkono primary school, funakaya lga, (2) nahuta primary school, kwami, kwami lga, and (3) tilde primary school, tilde, funakaye”.

Ten days later, the Federal Ministry of Education transferred ₦29,311,319.12 to Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited as payment for the “construction of perimeter fence for harmony hostel (girls hostel) at fggc oma aran, Kwara State”.

Meanwhile, on 18 March 2024, the Centre for Management Development witnessed an outflow of ₦56,225,000.00 in favour of Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited, as payment “in respect of installation of integrated solar street lights in some selected communities (Yunusari and Tarmuwa LGA, Yobe east senatorial district, Yobe State)”.

On 24th May 2024, the sum of ₦28,895,325.00 left the treasury of Centre for Management Development in favour of Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited, being balance payment “in respect of installation of integrated solar street lights in some selected communities (Yunusari And Tarmuwa LGA, Yobe East Senatorial District, Yobe State). 

Records have it that Igaby Lussy Nigeria Limited was incorporated in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria with registration number 885367. It was registered on 05 may 2010 and its current status is unknown. The company’s registered office address is no.12, Ilupeju quarters, Olokemeji Street, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State. 

We gathered that Ezekiel Oluwole Ajayi is one of the directors of the company.

The CCBT Act stipulates that public officials should not own or run a private company while employed as full-time staff.
