How House of Rep Member Okwudili Ezenwankwo Was Involved In Contract Racketeering Worth Millions Of Naira While In Active Capacity

It has been a common practice for public servants to involve themselves in contract racketeering to enrich themselves and their cronies in their circle, which is against the Code of Conduct Bureau Act, which stipulates those public officers, unless not employed full-time, are prohibited from managing or participating in any private business ventures except for farming.

This is as the country is yet to recover from the shock of the scandal surrounding the Federal Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, a former lawmaker, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo has again been caught in the web of corruption activities involving public servants in the country.

Recall that earlier this month, Betta Edu was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following a series of corruption allegations rocking her activities in her Ministry, including the award of a contract of over 400 million Naira to a company of which her fellow Minister is a shareholder.

Findings have shown that Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, while serving as a lawmaker representing Orumba South and North Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, was involved in contract racketeering to the sum of N63,482,383.

Documents have revealed that the Anambra State government, through the state Ministry of Housing, awarded a contract for the construction of a warehouse for the shoe manufacturing and leather products industrial cluster on the 22nd of November 2019 to Facomore Nig Ltd. The contract is worth N63,482,383 and has been completed.

It was discovered that Facomore Nigeria Limited was incorporated in Onitsha, Nigeria, on the 29th of June 2010 with registration number 895929. The company has three key management staff, among who is Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo.
