Sherrified Ukodo: Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori To Spend N1 Billion On Purchase Of Vehicles For His Aides

Secrets Reporters

Political Aides to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, are set to experience one of their best years as data have shown that their paymaster is willing to part ways with taxpayers’ money to raise their standard of living.

According to details concealed in the 2024 appropriation bill, the Governor has earmarked One Billion Naira (1,000,000,000) for the purchase of vehicles for some of the people who are privileged to work closely with him.

The budget code number 011200300100.481 has it that the above-mentioned amount will be used for the “Purchase of Official Vehicles for Hon. Members/Political Aides.”

Meanwhile, a quick glance at the 2023 budget revealed that Oborevwori’s predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, budgeted a bigger amount for his political aides.

According to the 2023 appropriation bill, Okowa, who has been exclusively reported by this online media to be gunning for the Chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party, splashed N2,310,801,000 on the “Purchase of Official Vehicles for Hon. Members/Political Aides.”

It is not clear if Okowa exhausted the budgeted amount since he only spent five months in office in 2023 following the expiration of his second loan-laden term in office.

This online media had earlier reported that Governor Sheriff budgeted nearly ten billion Naira for the purchase of vehicles for his office in 2024. Code number 011100100100.460 has it that the Delta State number one man earmarked a whooping N9,998,000,000 for the “Purchase of Vehicles.”

It is germane to state that the 2024 appropriation bill is Oborevwori’s first major outing since his emergence as the leader of the oil-rich State following a keenly contested election.

Since he assumed office as the governor of the state, Oborevwori has appointed many people as his special assistants.

In his first major shopping in July, he appointed twenty special advisers to ‘assist in driving the administration of the State.’ Since then, he has appointed several other people, including retaining some of the aides to his predecessor.

More recently, the governor appointed Nigerian singer Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, as his executive assistant for entertainment.

Sharing a copy of his appointment letter, the ‘Reggae Blues’ crooner announced the news to his fans via his Instagram page.

He wrote, “Newly appointed E.A (Executive Assistant) Entertainment to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O Oborevwori. Thank you, my Governor.

“Now, address me as Hon. Superstar Harrysong. Thank you so much, my Governor, for entrusting me with this office to work. Deltans, get ready for ‘Kingmaker’ on March 30th. Sherrified and Ukodo International Festival 2024.”
