Secret Reporters
Attempts by the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to leave the country after his tenure has been forestalled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), SecretReporters can authoritatively report.
In an EFCC document obtained by us, the EFCC Acting Chairman personally wrote to the Comptroller General of Customs to request for watch-listing of Fayose for case of conspiracy, abuse of office, official corruption, theft and money laundering.
According to the EFCC letter in our possession, Magu argued that Fayose, a suspect “is under investigation in connection with the above mentioned offences and there is reasonable suspicion suggesting that he may likely leave the country either through the land borders, Airports or Seaports in order to evade investigation. Hence you are kindly requested to watch-list and arrest him”.
The letter which with reference number 3000/EFCC/ABJ/EG/TA/VOL.59/010 was written on September 12th 2018 but received by the Custom boss on 13th September listed Fayose international passport number as A05804492.
The CG immediately forwarded it to his deputy where order was given to all the commands for wide publicity and keep eyes on Fayose.
Once arrested, Fayose will be referred to the Economic Governance arm of the EFCC to face prosecution.
