The first company to carry the Moniepoint name in Britain did not belong to Moniepoint’s founders. Companies House records show that from 4 August 2022 to 21 August 2023, the company now called Moniepoint Technologies UK Ltd was controlled by Dr Aveez Olowoporoku, a London fund manager who held between 75 and 100 per cent of its shares, between 75 and 100 per cent of its voting rights, and the right to appoint and remove its directors. He was also the company’s only director and its secretary. No publication anywhere has ever reported his control of the company.
The control
Company 14275682 was incorporated on 4 August 2022 under the name MONIEPOINT UK LTD. The person with significant control record filed for it from its first day names Dr Aveez Olowoporoku. The officer record names the same man as director and as secretary, both appointments dated 4 August 2022. The register gives his date of birth as March 1977, his nationality as British, his country of residence as the United Kingdom, his occupation as fund manager and his correspondence address as 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London. For the company’s first full year, every office it had and every control right over it stood in that one name.
SecretsReporters examination of the filings found no document that explains the arrangement. No filing states whether Olowoporoku held the company as a nominee, as an adviser, as an incorporation agent or as a principal in his own right. No filing states what he was paid, what he did for the company in that year, or why the group’s flagship British name began its life in the hands of a man outside the founding team. Moniepoint is the Nigerian fintech group founded by Tosin Eniolorunda and Felix Ike, and by August 2022 it was already one of the largest payment companies in Africa.
The handover
On 21 August 2023 the record changed in a single day. Olowoporoku resigned as director and as secretary, and his person with significant control entry ceased. On the same date, Eniolorunda and Ike were appointed directors, and Eniolorunda was recorded as a person with significant control holding 25 to 50 per cent of the shares and 25 to 50 per cent of the voting rights. The filings record the change. They carry no explanation for the year that preceded it or for the handover itself.
The name
The company kept the MONIEPOINT UK LTD name for two more years after the founders took control. On 1 August 2025 it changed its name to MONIEPOINT TECHNOLOGIES UK LTD, giving up the name it had carried since incorporation. Six weeks later, on 12 September 2025, the MONIEPOINT UK LTD name was taken by company 07930355, formerly Bancom Europe Ltd, the FCA-authorised electronic money institution Moniepoint had acquired. The Bancom company’s change of name was reported at the time. The reports did not state that the name had a previous holder, or who had controlled that previous holder in its first year.
The register carries one further entry under a fuller form of the name. Chevening Consulting Ltd, company 10198891, a management consultancy incorporated on 25 May 2016, is recorded as controlled by Aveez Oladotun Olowoporoku. The filings do not state what connection, if any, runs between that consultancy and the year of control over the Moniepoint company.
The persons with significant control regime, Part 21A of the Companies Act 2006, exists so that the public can see who truly controls a British company. On this record it performs half that duty. It names the man, his dates, his share band and his offices in full. What no filing anywhere supplies is the reason a London fund manager stood as the sole director and near-total controller of Moniepoint’s first British company for a year, or the terms on which he handed it over. The filings name no wrongdoing by Olowoporoku, Eniolorunda, Ike or Moniepoint, and none is alleged here.
