In the unfolding records of public institutions across Nigeria, documents obtained by SecretsReporters reveal that the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, recorded ₦104,074,753.73 in financial irregularities across five findings for the 2023 financial year under the leadership of Professor Emmanuel Fasakin and Mr Samson Adehuga Omogbehin.

Professor Emmanuel Fasakin served as pioneer rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, until his two-term tenure expired on 10 March 2023. Mr Samson Adehuga Omogbehin was appointed Acting Rector from 11 March 2023.

Moreso, ₦44,930,000.00 worth of a motor vehicle acquired by the Polytechnic was not presented for physical verification when officials sought to inspect it, a matter that falls under Paragraph 2001 of the Financial Regulations 2009 governing accountability for government assets.

Similarly, ₦28,164,637.50 was paid for the supply of goods with no evidence that the supply was ever executed, in violation of Paragraphs 3106 and 3115 of the Financial Regulations 2009 covering irregular payment and poor cash management.

Additionally, ₦19,637,616.23 was paid as unjustified contingencies and utilisation of preliminary items with no supporting documents, likewise governed by Paragraphs 3106 and 3115 of the Financial Regulations 2009 on irregular payment and poor cash management.

However, ₦10,267,500.00 in revenue was said to have been remitted to the Consolidated Revenue Fund with no evidence produced to confirm it, a finding also addressed under Paragraphs 3106 and 3115 of the Financial Regulations 2009 concerning irregular payment and poor cash management.

Furthermore, ₦1,075,000.00 in salary advances were never retired, again falling under Paragraphs 3106 and 3115 of the Financial Regulations 2009 which cover irregular payment and poor cash management.

The recommendations direct the Rector to account for each sum to the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee, recover and remit the amounts to the Treasury, and forward evidence of that remittance.
