Aspiring Political Criminal: Ogun APC Senatorial Aspirant Otunba Muraina Olatunji Banjoko Accused of Land Grabbing, Intimidation and Use of Force

As Otunba Muraina Olatunji Banjoko, popularly known as Threeco, intensifies his campaign for the All Progressives Congress ticket for Ogun Central Senatorial District in 2027, a series of formal police petitions has painted a disturbing picture of alleged land grabbing, intimidation and disruption of lawful development activities linked to him and his company, Threeco Construction Company Limited.

Banjoko, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the firm registered as RC-778769, presents himself publicly as a philanthropist through the Threeco Foundation and a grassroots politician committed to empowerment. The petitions filed by solicitors for Ms Flora Dupe Ajayi tell a different story.

In August 2025 Ajayi paid ₦20 million via bank transfer for fifty acres of land at Ishoko Village, Ifo Local Government Area, from members of the Ilagbe Ajayi Shodolu family. Formal receipts and a Deed of Assignment were executed. Almost immediately, development work was halted by groups of young men, some armed with machetes, allegedly acting at the instance of Threeco Construction Company Limited, Banjoko himself, Babatunde Monsuru Shogbehinde (alias Obama) and Taofeek Shogbehinde Shodolu (alias Monday).

Construction materials were said to have been stolen or destroyed, workers threatened with violence, and the project manager subjected to physical and verbal attacks. Parallel disputes over other parcels at Patako/Olorunsogo involving the Shogbehinde family produced similar patterns of obstruction.

Petitions addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 2 in October and December 2025 explicitly named Threeco Construction Company Limited and Alhaji Muraina Olatunji Banjoko as central actors in the campaign of threats, criminal trespass, thuggery and unlawful disruption.

One report of a police-directed visit to the land described armed youths positioned on the site and a near-violent confrontation that the complainant’s lawyer felt compelled to abandon for safety. Multiple earlier petitions allegedly filed against Banjoko and his associates at Zone 2 are said to have produced no meaningful enforcement.

Under Nigerian law, the use of force or threats to dispossess a person of land, destruction of property, and intimidation constitute criminal offences. The Land Use Act requires that disputes over title be resolved through lawful channels rather than self-help.

Banjoko’s dual identity as a construction company CEO with significant local influence and a senatorial aspirant amplifies the public-interest dimension of the allegations. While he has denied stepping down for other contenders and continues to project an image of service and philanthropy, the detailed, contemporaneous petitions from a private citizen who claims to have lost both money and peaceful possession of land raise serious questions about the methods employed in his real-estate and security-related activities. Until those questions are independently investigated and resolved, they will continue to cloud his political ambitions in Ogun Central.
