Wicked Civil Servant: Federal Controller of Works, Yahaya Baba Ali, Steals Over N285 Million In Multiple Contracts Scams

Yahaya Baba Ali, a staff member of the Federal Ministry of Works, has disregarded the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as he has been found to have violated the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal (CCBT) Act.
The Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Acts, states that public officials should not own or run a private company while employed as full-time staff. However, such laws do not apply if the company or business is in the farming sector.
Ali, using Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd., a company where he is part of the key management personnel, was involved in contract racketeering to the tune of ₦285,097,874.64.
On December 31, 2022, the Federal Ministry of Health (Hqtrs) made a payment of ₦17,451,646.52 to Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd. for the supply and installation of executive tables and shares.
On November 28, 2019, the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta made a payment of ₦72,474,527.67 to Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd, being 50% payment for consultancy provision and installation of equipment for lecture halls and utility buildings at VTC Bomadi, Delta State.
On May 10, 2021, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency made a payment of ₦110,865,533.75 to Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd. for general maintenance repairs of the Potiskum-Kari-Bauchi s/b road in Yobe State.
On December 31, 2023, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency made a payment of ₦84,306,166.70 to Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd. for the rehabilitation of roads in Nangree township in Yobe State.
The company, Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd., was registered in the year 2015 with registration number 1274311.
The company, Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd., has four key management personnel, among whom is Yahaya Baba Ali. Ali is a Federal Controller of Works with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
