Solidified Criminal: After Abandoning Tax Building Across State, Delta Revenue Boss, Monday Onyeme To Waste N300M Building Two New Ones At Inflated Prices

While the 2022 vision of the Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa may be aimed at completing all ongoing projects in the state before the end of his tenure in 2023, most of his appointees, saddled to help his administration achieve this have allegedly resorted to last minute looting spree, afraid that they might never get the opportunity of seeing the four walls of the government house in years to come.

Ranking top on this list, probably among the first ten is the number one tax officer in the state, Monday Onyeme whom sources in Asaba allege have been eating fat off the coffers of Delta State as he chairs the tax agency, termed as a “cash cow for politicians” in the state.

Findings by SecretReporters indicate that these rumors may be true as evidenced in the abandoned tax buildings littered across the state while the Revenue boss plans to waste another N300 Million in the construction of two new ones.

According to the N479 billion 2022 budget signed by the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Thursday 16th December 2021, the Delta Board of Internal Revenue with Monday Onyeme at the helm of affairs penned down the sum of N150 Million for the Construction of 1 (No) office building at Kwale with code 022000800100450 as against an approved sum of N120 Million in the previous year, indicating that the project is ongoing. Another N150million was penned down for Construction of office building at Akukwu-Igbo with code 022000800100451, N30 Million more than the previous year.

Despite the projects aligning with the Delta State Government’s agenda of completing all ongoing projects in the state with its 2022 budget, sources reveal, that they are nothing but inflated white elephant projects used as conduit to divert taxpayer’s funds as the possibilities of completing such project is very low under the supervision of Monday Onyeme, notorious for abandoning tax buildings across the state.
