DELTA 2015: UPC GHANA PICKS CANDIDATE

The Urhobo Political Congress Ghana Chapter has held its first Executive Council Meeting of the year.

The group which is a pan-Urhobo socio-political organization has its Ghana Chapter being headed by Mr. David Ukueku as Convener and Mr. Omonigho Udebor as Programs Director.

Urhobo’s in Ghana form majority of the over 6 million Nigerians residing in Ghana. It is time to make our number count.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting and signed by both David Ukueku and Omonigho Udebor, the group commended the Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege led Urhobo Political Congress for the leadership role it is playing in positioning the Urhobo nation in the main stream of politics in Delta State and Nigeria generally.

The communiqué commended the transformative initiatives and competency of the UPC’s National Leader. According to the communiqué, “if Deltans can embrace the Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege initiatives, Delta will become an epitome of transformation. His experience and vast knowledge from his back ground is a sign that he will deliver if given the support to lead in any capacity. Obarisi’s loyalty, diligence, intelligence and allegiance to the PDP project were the sterling qualities that endeared him to the then Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori who appointed him as the first ever Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State in 2003 and subsequently became the Commissioner for Special Duties in Delta State in Delta State and became Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in 2007”.
The communiqué also commended Omo-Agege for facilitating the reviving of the Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja to its glorious days by drawing the Federal Government’s attention through the setting up of the DSC Resuscitation Committee to look at other strategies of revamping the company Committee and drawing up plans for the Urhobo Political Congress (UPC) summit.

 Concluding, the group used the opportunity to call on all Urhobo’s in Ghana to come and identify with the UPC Ghana, so we can in our numbers make meaningful impact when the time for election comes in 2015 and also for all Urhobo residing in Ghana to make sure they register and get their Voters ID when INEC start the process, as with that they will not be allowed to vote when the election comes.
