The 2019 election may be two years away but Secret Reporters can report authoritatively that immediate past governor of Delta State, Mr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan is already scheming to go to the Senate.
In a meeting which was convened secretly by the ‘finishing strong‘ point man in Lagos, our sources who were part of the meeting revealed that the race for 2019 is already on, with most of them ready to support Uduaghan to clinch the Delta South Senatorial ticket under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with likelihood to defect to the All Progressive Congress (APC) if the same forces that denied him the ticket in 2015 conspired against him again.
In the meeting which was attended by Joel Onowakpor who he made a multi billionaire as Chairman, Delta Board of Internal Revenue, Solomon Ogba, Ovuzorie Macaulay who served as his Secretary to the State Government, Malik Ishako Ikpokpo and a host of others, he declared his intention to go to the Red Chambers and charged them to begin mobilization in Isoko ahead of time.
Our sources disclosed that Uduaghan told them to keep his ambition close to their chest and not tell the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa until he’s ready to personally do so. It was generally agreed among those present that the current occupant, Senator James Manager has not done enough for Delta South and should be kicked out. This is despite the many projects Manager has brought to the Senatorial District through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) when he was the Committee Chairman.
The issue of budget padding criminal, Leo Ogor who is Isoko Federal Constituency lawmaker in the House of Representatives and is also gunning for the Senatorial ticket was also discussed, with Joel directed to keep his political profile under control.
Pundits are however of the belief that with Uduaghan in the race and does not chicken out, Okowa may likely support him as an old time friend and political ally.
