Over time, the Nigerian Army in her bid to reward and motivate troops who undertake their constitutional responsibility of securing the nation against internal and external threats especially those engaged in the ongoing war against Insurgency, introduced initiative programs such as the Nigerian Army Welfare Insurance Scheme, payment of death benefits, Nigeria Armed Forces Group Life Insurance, amongst others with the major objective to help cater for the needs of their families when they are long gone.
Sadly, Mr Austin Enejamo-Isire a former Managing Director (from the year 2013 to 2016) of Standard Life PLC, the insurance company in charge of the Nigerian Armed Group Life Insurance is alleged to be the brains behind the closed door illegal deals in the scheme as information made available to SecretReporters revealed that the then manager in connivance with his Assistant Director who also double as the representative of the head of the service, Mr Abubakar Maijamal fleeced 45% of the Armed forced group life funds while he was at the helm of affairs in Standard Life PLC.
The smooth fraudulent actions by these money moles according to report was allegedly facilitated by Mr Idowu Sobanjo (Head Northern Region of Standard Life PLC) who acted as the middle man for Mr Isire and the Head of Service through whom the swindled money gets to their private coffers.
Furthermore, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who is the current leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and the owner of the insurance company, was also indicted in this looting spree as it is alleged that in his bid to recoup his lost money from his political expenses since April 2015, Emerjor in connivance with Ahmed Tinubu allegedly persuaded the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige to make Mr Austin the Board Chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) with plans to use him as a pipeline through which monies will flow from the NSITF to their pockets as he had proven to be a reliable conduit especially during his days managing the Nigerian Armed Forces Life Insurance Fund.
This online news media learned that the fraudulent activities of Isire and his cohorts are however responsible for all the accumulated outstanding claims in Nigeria armed forces as the massive fraud they perpetrated in Standard Life Plc indirectly affects the security situation in Nigeria with unending protests by soldiers in the frontline and cases where families of members of the armed forces cannot assess the benefits of their dead breadwinners.
When contacted for his reaction via SMS Mr Isire did not respond as at press time.
