Secret Reporters
In Nigeria, the men at the helm of affairs determine how security organizations are run. They are the kings and laws unto themselves and no one dare questions.
In Akwa Ibom State, the former Governor now turned Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio is the ruler of the kingdom, which he has spread into the national politics.
Few weeks ago, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed Akwa Ibom State, where they identified some of the properties bought and built with funds stolen from the State. One of such properties is the multi million Naira group of schools, John Paul School in Shelter Afrique owned by his wife, Mrs Unoma Akpabio. The commission in its wisdom refused to seal it off, so as not to affect the thousands of students already schooling there, but marked it ‘EFCC, under investigation’.
This edifice Secret Reporters can report authoritatively has been repainted by Akpabio, cleaning away the EFCC mark. Our source revealed that soon after the operatives left, the Ex Governor ordered his boys to clean off the “stupid red paint of EFCC”
This will be the first time in Nigeria that a building marked ‘under investigation’ will be tampered with, without the knowledge of the commission or order from court.
Efforts to speak with Akpabio to hear from him on why he carried out the action proved abortive as he never picked calls placed to him or replied SMS sent to his known mobile number.
