Although the erstwhile governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha, has relinquished power to his successor Gov. Chukwuemeka Ihedioha following his victory at the polls, it appears that the can of worms which was hidden behind his administration is beginning to open.
The Free Mother and Child Hospital, Owerri which was built by the former governor and commissioned on May 23rd, 2019 by President Buhari who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo after it has been adjudged to have been completed, has proven to be a pure charade with an undisputable intent to deceive gullible Imolites into believing that he was actually expending tax payer’s money for their benefit.
Information made available to SecretReporters revealed that the Hospital which looked completed and equipped with world class facilities when viewed from the front, was in no way near complete as the back view of the hospital was a direct opposite of what was seen and adored at the front.
More so, a closer view of the commissioned hospital which was supposed to provide state of the art medical services to women and children in the state showed that there was no single equipment, furniture or medical personnel in the glorified structure which is practically begging for attention.
The erstwhile governor in his usual style of extravagance and showmanship allegedly forced the President to commission the project amongst other mushroom projects with budgets alleged to be shrouded in deceit and secrecy while the event was broadcasted live on various National television channels.
It was also alleged that the budgets for each of the projects which were carried out shabbily and left uncompleted in a bid to pocket as much money as possible due to the constitutional expiration of his tenure and the loss of his anointed candidate were padded with millions of Naira and shrouded in secrecy in a bid to cover his fraudulent prowess.
Some school of thought believe that the move by the incumbent governor of Imo State Chukwuemeka Ihedioha to constitute a panel to scrutinize the activities of Rochas Okorocha’s administration was due to discoveries of massive corrupt practices and elephant projects executed by of the erstwhile governor upon his assumption of office.
