Secret Reporters
This may not be the best of times for Nigerian students in the United Kingdom, currently on scholarship from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), as the Buhari’s led administration has refused to pay a dime to the students, seven months after they arrived the Country.
Highly placed sources informed Secret Reporters that, the students are now into manual jobs, to help them pay their rent, and also feed, as they have been abandoned by the Federal Government, and the NDDC.
According to our findings, worst hit are students in Coventry, Manchester, London and Newcastle.
Some of the students we gathered have been arrested, at factories, and warehouses for working more than the authorized number of hours, as the UK Government is set to deport them.
According to investigation, some of the students are into toilet cleaning, some work in warehouses, sweep malls, just to enable them feed and pay their rent.
Sources said, some of the students cannot stand the sufferings anymore, but cannot go back to Nigeria, due to high expectations from families and friends.
The UK Government has also threatened not to honour any future scholarship letter from Nigeria, as the students are not cared for, after offering them scholarships.
