The Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act has laws that prevent government officials from owning or running a private company while being employed as full-time staff. However, such laws do not apply if the company or business is in the farming sector.
Despite these laws, some public officials have confidently continued to carry out their activities in contradiction to these laws.

SecretsReporters analysing government spending over time discovered that on December 16, 2021, the Nigeria Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST) headquarters made a payment of ₦24,715,465.12 to Royalae_E_Gold Integrated Consults & Services Ltd. for the provision of solar powered street lights at Okene, Kogi State.
On December 21, 2021, the Heavy Leather Manufacturing Centre in Maiduguri, made a payment of ₦24,666,913.49 to Royalae_E_Gold Integrated Consults & Services Ltd. for the procurement of project vans for Maiduguri centre.
More so, on February 4, 2022, the Nigeria Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST) headquarters made a payment of ₦28,799,549.58 for the Development of an entrepreneurship workshop for leather products production in Nasarawa state.
Findings revealed that the company, Royalae_E_Gold Integrated Consults & Services Ltd. was registered in November 2016 in Kaduna State.
It was discovered that the company has four key directors/management personnel, among whom is Dr. Ejeh Lawrence Udeh. We gathered that Dr. Ejeh Lawrence Udeh is the Head of the Department of Geography at the Federal University of Gashua (FUGA).
