Except a last minute plan and political deftness is carried out by leading gubernatorial aspirants in the state, the Delta North region of Delta State should bid goodbye to the chance of ever occupying the Unity House. This is due to a high powered plot currently but secretly being carried out with the supervision of the State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) top Chieftains who feel threaten that they will become irrelevant should someone from the region click the juicy post.
Reliable sources revealed to this newspaper that nocturnal meetings have been going on in the Delta Central; precisely Oghara in Ethiope West local government area, where plans are made to put the top contenders from the zone at loggerheads. One of our sources who is in the know of the various meetings held in a hotel close to the state museum and several other hotel in Warri, including their houses stated that one of the bait will be to gather all the aspirants from the zone to the palace of one of the kings, where they will be asked to chose a consensus candidate among themselves.
“You and I know that they will never agree to step down for each other. That is where the plan is aimed at. With no consensus candidate, the PDP who will give her ticket to the Delta North will have to switch to the Central, claiming that the divided north will not lead to victory. If they succeed, which we pray they don’t, the PDP candidate may be from Oghara again” the source authoritatively stated.
We reliably gathered that one of the Delta North candidates, Victor Ochei, who is the State House of Assembly Speaker, has recruited a set of popular media team, mainly from the online media to mount pressure on the polity, telling Nigerians why he must be a governor. Our sources also revealed that the corrupt politician who we gathered is also promiscuous has also set in motion a particular magazine called ‘prolific magazine’ allegedly owned by his girlfriend to project his image, while his foot soldiers flood the cyberspace.
Investigations carried out by this newspaper on the State government house reveals that the State governor who is set to hand over power to a serving Senator is currently consulting with his people in Delta South to support the candidate and not heed to the words of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ovuzorie Macaulay on the south unwillingness to support someone from Delta North axis. We gathered that he held a long discussion with the SSG, where he asked him to grant another interview to correct his statement, while announcing that he was quoted out of context. The SSG will be granting an interview in no distant time, a source told our reporter.
