STOP DEMONIZING OUR RECTOR, DELTA STATE POLY, OGHARA WRITES SECRET REPORTERS FOR EXPOSING HER CORRUPT PRACTICES

In furtherance of the issues raised in your malicious and unfounded report, it is obvious that you are fronting for Ovie Osiobe,a former staff of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara whose appointment was terminated for fraudulently extorting students of the Polytechnic in 2014 when Prof. Hope Eghagha was Commissioner for Higher Education. How do I know that? The voice is that of Ovie but the hand is that of a secret reporter. Come to think of it, why won’t both phone numbers of the Public Relations Officer be switched off when you have resolved never to publish our side of the story? It only shows that your action is premeditated. It is a lame excuse for you to publish a one sided report which is your stock in trade anyway.

As falsely alleged in your warped write-up, Prof. Hope Eghagha is not the owner of Brafield Internet Service, a technology firm deployed to the Polytechnic for online registration of students. There’s therefore no way the Rector could have been remitting monies to him with respect to Brafield. This contraption is a figment of the reporter’s imagination.

In addition, the Governing Council of the Polytechnic is responsible for all contract approvals not Prof. Hope Eghagha. Due process was followed in all contract approvals if you investigate thoroughly.

Dr. Stephen Oru was Chairman of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic before he became Minister for Niger Delta Affairs. Very unfortunate that he was shot by hoodlums but that Rector released N5 million for his treatment is outright falsehood. Do you think the Polytechnic is a charity organization?

Resulting from the Governing Councils’ decision to employ direct labour as a cost saving device, cement was supplied directly to the Polytechnic by Dangote Cement through cheque payments made directly also to Dangote without any intermediary. This fact is also verifiable.

You will agree with me that the Polytechnic has always complied with NBTE admission quota from the number of courses that have been accredited under Dr. (Mrs.) Sogbaike.

Prof. Hope Eghagha is a distinguished academic who has zero tolerance for indiscipline, misconduct and fraudulent practices such as was exhibited by Ovie Osiobe. His tenure and that of Dr. Oru heralded an unprecedented infrastructural growth for Otefe Poly and other institutions of higher learning in Delta State. This could not have happened if they milked the Polytechnic dry as alleged by Ovie Osiobe through your report. Always verify your facts before going to press. Instead of being recalcitrant, Ovie Osiobe should humble himself, try to repent and sin no more so he can attract God’s grace and forgiveness. He should stop vilifying innocent Deltans who have contributed immensely to the development of the Polytechnic and the State. Why would you throw stones when you live in a glass house? It is simply because, like I said before, ‘only fools play where angels fear to tread!’ Enough is enough!
