“When you invest your time, you make a goal and a decision of something that you want to accomplish. Whether it’s make good grades in school, be a good athlete, be a good person, go down and do some community service and help somebody who’s in need, whatever it is you choose to do, you’re investing your time in that.”

The quote is by one Nick Saban. And it typifies the qualities Mr. Charles Ajunwa is made up of.

Ajunwa was the Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Abia State who is now a senator representing Abia Central in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji. Ajunwa, during his time, was surrounded by nothing but great people and, the government was blessed with that, so really.

He invests his time in anything positive he finds himself without pretending. Ajunwa is a media professional who would prefer to have great minds for the purpose of achieving a more reliable media outcome instead of allowing the voice of uninformed opposition to becloud the voice of his principal and the government.

He’s a media personnel who believes in having a more open mind and including others and opposition who doesn’t share in the whims and caprice of the government. A lot of the principles Ajunwa taught in the past administration in Abia State were excellent.

He is just an open-hearted, fair, good person. He encouraged a lot of people “to be their best and look inside themselves and find out what they are passionate about and expand on that and enjoy life.” Ajunwa’s idea of success means “being a good person, treating people well.”

Although, a diehard journalist with ThisDay and a man who is quiet to the nucleus, Ajunwa is not supposed to be far away from the present government in Abia State owing to his sagacity and dexterity in handling media wars and public relations.

Many of us media personalities came to know this unique gentleman due to how he offered and spread knowledge and promoted his former boss and to a large extent the present Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. Ajunwa whose journalism style may be taken to promoting awareness and making peace, was all-around and everywhere during the electioneering campaign period for Ikpeazu.

Ajunwa extended his tentacles and spectrum of knowledge by making sure that he was with researchers, academics, professionals, and students and others and provided them with the media tools they needed to share ideas and realize the media potentialities of his past boss and the then governorship candidate who is now Governor Ikpeazu of Abia State.

Ajunwa as we know reached out to over millions of people on social networking communities; that’s not even counting blogs or YouTube video blogs he was in to defend the Abia State that produced Ikpeazu. Ajunwa’s engagement provided actively and engaged the government and online communities positively.

The resultant effects were that the government relied on accessibility of information on social media specifically and the web in general to provide answers to the needs of the governed. This is to say that Ajunwa made public opinions to count in the government he served. Ajunwa didn’t reduce focus on learning and retaining information for the government, hence the government increased in its social relationship.

Ajunwa reduced distractions that were then fad against the government that were being brewed by the opposition. The government started socialising because Ajunwa was involved.

The government’s popularity soared and sped up in the positive unlike what it used to be before he came in. Ajunwa made sure that people see proper spelling and grammar about the government and he reduced the error of the opposition that was criticising the government.

Ajunwa provided every info that was needed by people about the government and he never showed any signs of pomposity to duty. He was not carried away by the job of a CPS unlike what some persons in that position make of it – arrogance and unnecessary showing-off.

The soft-speaking Ajunwa is a great man. One is wondering why he has been aloof from the present government of Dr. Ikpeazu. Is it that he preferred to be silent or the government is yet to make him public? Ajunwa wields attitude of quality collaboration with those that are committed to information quickly.

He promotes and increases productivity and helps people to learn more without showing any trait of superiority to those he is ahead of. Where is Charles Ajunwa who knows how to spend so much time working with grassroots for the betterment of his once CPS job and the government?

Let’s pray he is still available to take Abia State Government to the next level with the increased focus on technology, education, politics and media. He will help any governments build skills that will aid them throughout their lives of governance.

Ajunwa worked hard for ex-Governor Orji and the emergence of Ikpeazu by staying on a path of being kind and showing and proving that he’s a good person to society. Ajunwa shouldn’t be far from the government of Ikpeazu knowing what a Melody Beattie said, “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
