By Saleh Abubakar’s first full year as Director-General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall was 2025. SecretsReporters review of the agency’s payment records for that year shows that it spent N260,533,976.74 distributing rice across Kebbi and Nasarawa states, under three contracts. On 24 December 2025, Greatwish Contractors Nig Ltd received N87,100,218.60 for ‘the provision and distribution of rice to Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski federal constituency, Kebbi State’. On 9 September 2025, Yamraj Engineering and Construction Company received N86,935,930.23 for rice to ‘Nasarawa local government, Nasarawa Toto federal constituency’, and on the same day Bani Tech Construction Company Ltd received N86,497,827.91 for rice to Toto Local Government Area in the same constituency.
The National Agency for the Great Green Wall (Establishment) Act 2015 charges the agency with combating desertification, including the planting of trees. Rice distribution is not among the functions the Act lists. All three companies paid for the rice contracts now stand inactive on the register of the Corporate Affairs Commission.
In August 2025 the agency paid retention fees totalling N132,205,708.20 on works carried out in Yobe State in October 2024. M K Square Global Concept Limited received N21,692,565.84, A & Zy Integrated Resources Ltd received N21,660,998.48, Nice Green Nig Ltd received N21,682,137.90, Solid Zone Investment Limited received N21,622,026.48 and Zymarz Nig Ltd received N21,526,284.89. Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd received N13,093,087.52 in retention for its Yobe road, and Dunoma Ventures Ltd received N10,928,607.09 for water reticulation. Retention is released after the works are certified satisfactorily complete. Of the seven companies, M K Square Global Concept Limited has no matching entry on the Corporate Affairs Commission register, and A & Zy Integrated Resources Ltd and Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd stand inactive on it.
The rest of the year’s payments included N39,293,071.51 to Hamfaz Infrastructural Development Ltd for rehabilitating tanks and drilling boreholes in Potiskum, and N16,257,891.67 to Gimbis & Amira Nigeria Ltd for building two classrooms and four toilets in Nangere Local Government Area. Two payments went to woodlot plantations, the only spending in the year that resembles the agency’s mandate: Green Grade Ventures received N37,229,774.33 in Katsina State and Ahmed & Abbakar Designs Ltd received N36,555,314.34 in Yobe State, N73,785,088.67 between them. The agency’s payments for the year came to N522,075,736.79.
The Corporate Affairs Commission register carries the fourteen companies as follows. Greatwish Contractors Nig Ltd, RC 912921, was registered on 22 September 2010 and stands inactive. Yamraj Engineering and Construction Company Nigeria Ltd, RC 1617810, was registered on 24 September 2019 and stands inactive; the payment records print the company’s name in a shorter form. Bani Tech Construction Company Ltd, RC 6993961, was registered on 30 May 2023, barely two years before its September 2025 rice payment, and stands inactive. A & Zy Integrated Resources Ltd, RC 762242, was registered on 23 July 2008 and stands inactive. Zymarz Nig Ltd, RC 899637, was registered on 13 July 2010 and stands inactive. Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Ltd, RC 1274311, was registered on 13 July 2015 and stands inactive; a separate company, Bimaz Engineering Construction Company Limited, RC 9344432, registered in February 2026 and active, is a different registration. Dunoma Ventures Ltd, RC 227548, was registered on 28 July 1993 and stands inactive. Gimbis & Amira Nig Ltd, RC 1348752, was registered on 17 July 2016 and stands inactive; the payment records print its name as Gimbis & Amira Nigeria Ltd. Green Grade Ventures Ltd, RC 1313708, was registered on 3 February 2016 and stands inactive. Nice Green Nig Ltd, RC 981222, was registered on 19 September 2011 and is active. Solid Zone Investment Limited, RC 380035, was registered on 1 May 2000 and is active. Hamfaz Infrastructural Development Ltd, RC 1425105, was registered on 12 July 2017 and is active. Ahmed & Abbakar Designs Ltd, RC 1193451, was registered on 26 May 2014 and is active. No entity matching M K Square Global Concept Limited appears on the register under that name or under the variants MK Square Global Concept, M.K Square and Emkay Square; the near names M Square Global Concept and MK Square Venture on the register are different entities.
