Secrets Reporters

The first citizen of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan may be cooling his feet in any of the Nigerian Prison once he leaves the saddle if the laws of the country are followed to the letter.

This is not unconnected with the brazen display of wealth during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fundraising for the Presidential Campaign which held in Abuja.

The event which was chaired by Skye Bank Chief Executive Officer, Tunde Ayeni saw various individuals and institutions falling over themselves to be the highest donor. Ayeni himself according to analyst may have used customers money under his care to part with b y donation over N2 billion for the project.
Scrutiny carried out by Secrets Reporters can authoritatively state that all the donation contravenes the electoral laws of the land as ‘….Section 91(9) of the Electoral Act reads, “An individual or other entity shall not donate more than N1,000,000 (one million naira) to any candidate.”
Sub-section 10 of the same section adds that a presidential candidate “who knowingly acts in contravention of this section commits an offence and on conviction is liable to a maximum fine of N1m or imprisonment for a term of 12 months or both.”
Section 91(2) of the same Act states that, “The maximum election expenses to be incurred by a candidate at a presidential election shall be N1bn.”

In all of this, Mr Jonathan broke the law when he raised the N21 billion to run his re-election.

  1. The reason why the poalupr vote doesn’t count is for three reasons.1. The framers of the Constitution were terrified of the average voter and this is when only landed men could vote. Imagine how they would have felt about women, wage slaves and minorities voting. The electoral college was seen as a way to buffer any populist revolution.2. The framers of the Constitution were also pretty freaked over the concept of political parties. Supposedly the electoral college was one of the ways to prevent their institution. Nice to see that worked out well we only really have two we have to worry about 3. Why would you want government operated out in the open where anyone could see what is going on? That’s just crazy talk.
