LIVING IN BONDAGE: N-POWER BENEFICIARY IN IMO STATE DENIED OF SEVEN MONTHS STIPEND AFTER SEVERAL LETTERS TO NATIONAL TEAM

Secret Reporters

Despite assurances from Federal government policies on the economy with the N-Power program as a platform for diversifying skills and also providing young Nigerians with employment, the program may be heading for the pits owing to the selfish interest of those at the helm of affairs to the detriment of beneficiaries with many working for months without getting paid.

This is as a 2016 N-Power beneficiary in Imo State, Mr Ekeocha Wisdom cried to SecretReporters the unfortunate situation he has now found himself for over seven months all in a bid to earn decent money which he could use to fend for himself.

According to Mr Ekeocha as at August 2018, the 2016 beneficiaries wanted to conduct a National N-Power solidarity rally where they planned to thank President Muhammudu Buhari for initiating the program and also use the avenue to plead with him not to allow them to go back to the street after the expiration of their tenure.

Information has it that an unknown insider reported to N-Power management that Mr Ekeocha and his collogues were planning a protest to disrupt public peace. As a result of this false allegation, his monthly stipend got suspended in September 2018.

On contacting the National team of N-Power, he was directed to write an apology letter with an attestation letter from the School principal of his Primary Place of Assignment (PPA) Nnorie Secondary Technical and subsequently forward the documents to the National team through his State focal person.

After duly following the instruction, on January 10th 2018, he received a mail from the Npower team stating that they will pay him soon but this turned out to be a foul play as he is yet to receive any feedback with his seven months stipend yet to be paid till date.

We learnt from a reliable source that Mr Ekeocha has sent in several letters through his state focal person who keeps assuring him in confidence that his letters have been delivered to the national team though he believes his case may have been allegedly swept under the carpet, he still pleads for the national body to look into his plight as things have lately become very rough for him as a low-income earner.
