GANG PREFECT: HOW DELSU VICE CHANCELLOR VICTOR PERETOMODE ALLEGEDLY CONNIVES WITH KIDNAPPERS TO DEMAND FOR HEAVY RANSOM FROM VICTIMS

Secret Reporters

Studying in Delta State University (DELSU) these days appears to be more of a curse than a blessing especially with the unending report of missing students and ritual killings as sources within the school community lament that the school security and management under Professor Victor Finipa Peretomode are partly to be blamed.

This is because overtime, they have turned a blind eye to the malicious destruction of the citadel of knowledge, character and service in Delta State.

A few months ago, the youth wing of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) worldwide had raised an alarm that the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Victor Peretomode and his management has allegedly been employing criminals as security officers in the school as there have been numerous cases of kidnapping and robbery within the school premises all linked to the security men.

An allegation that was soon confirmed after the Security Supervisor in charge of Campus 3, Mr Raymond was linked to kidnapping and robbery following the death of Miss Elozino Joshuana Ogege, the 22 years old 300 level student of Mass Communication Department, Delta State University, Abraka, murdered in cold blood by alleged ritualists within the school premises while searching for accommodation.

The gang, SecretReporters learned surprisingly had an ex-convict who was employed by the school security contractor “Deo Gratia” on their team as finding showed that they regularly use Campus 3 as their hideout and camp where they keep kidnapped victims before the payment of ransom by family members and associate of the victims.

The horrific discovery of the victim’s body mutilated in parts led to the demand by the UPU Youth Wing that the school management should disengage the security outfit due to their lack of background check of their workers evidently seen in the employment of the ex-convict simply identified as “Onos” who assisted the gang of cybercriminals (Yahoo plus boys).

Instead of swinging into action the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peretomode turned a deaf ear to the demand and rather choose to victimize the youth wing of UPU Worldwide stating that the secretary was behind the action of the Union as he further petitioned the Abraka Divisional Police Headquarters, Area Command Sapele, DSS Asaba, and the State Command Asaba all in an attempt to intimidate the union and stop them from demanding for justice for the deceased.

The invitation of the Secretary-general for questioning concerning the decision of the Union to embark on a peaceful protest to remove the said security outfit and the VC’s negligence over the involvement of the security staff in the gruesome murder for ritual of Elozino Ogege SecretReporters also learned almost led to a breakdown in law and order by the angry youths of the host community as it only took the swift intervention of some community leaders to restore calm.

Similarly, Prof. Peretomode not satisfied with all his antics used his protégé, the then SUG President, Okpako Oghenevwegba who is a political son to the Sec-Gen to write series of Petition against the union as the VC also allegedly threatened to withdraw the university certificate issued to the secretary of the union if he failed to stop agitating for late Elozino and the removal of the said security company.

Information from police sources confirmed that Mr Raymond, the supervisor who has been living above his income by living lavishly, building houses and recently bought a Lexus car was killed by his fellow kidnapping gang members due to a failed deal of 5 million Naira, which he refused to remit after their illicit trade.

Speculation has that there may be complicity between the management of Delta State University under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor and the kidnapping squad due to the reoccurrence of kidnapping and ritual killing within and outside the institution and the VC’s refusal to remove the security outfit who employ hardened criminals as security men.

When contacted by our reporter for his reaction, the Vice-Chancellor stated that he was in a meeting and did not reply to the sms sent to him as at press time.
