From very credible sources, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa will soon fall apart with his political leader and former governor of Delta State, Mr James Onanefe Ibori, over what insiders described as a stage towards 2023 gubernatorial election.
Weeks of digging deep into the happenings of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and life of the Managing Director, Mr Askia Ogieh has revealed his plot and reason for manipulating his way through the board after his alleged visit to an Asian country known to be strong in Voodooism, before the shocking announcement of his name. This plot is thickening barely three months after he was appointed to oversee the board from the previous number two position he held on the board from 2015 to 2019.
SecretReporters gathered that Askia told Papa E.K Clark on how DESOPADEC has been funding Western Delta University (WDU), Oghara, owned by Ibori and instigated him on why he should keep quiet and not also get funding for his private institution called E.K Clark University, Kiagbodo.
This instigation we learned had a serious effect on Clark, who complained to Governor Okowa on non-funding of his university despite being sited in an oil-producing area. Okowa was however silent on the issue as he was said to have given the board a free hand to run since it is law-driven.
The MD went steps further to brief E.K Clark on how Ibori is making millions from DESOPADEC and vowed to make the university in Kiagbodo get better funding than WDU and if possible cripple the one owned by Ibori.
To make good his threat, the sum of N10 million was recently approved and paid into the account of E.K Clark University from DESOPADEC coffers, stated a source in the MD’s office. The money had no tag to it as the University didn’t request for assistance.
Calls placed to the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, John Nani and Askia were not reachable as at press time. Messages sent to them were not responded to.
