EXCLUSIVE: OPPRESSORS OF THE UNIVERSE: HOW DSTV BRIBES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBERS EVERY FOUR YEARS WITH FREE SUBSCRIPTION TO KILL TSTV AND OTHER EMERGING SATELLITE CABLES AS DSTV FACES PIRACY CHARGE IN COURT

Secret Reporters

Secrets Reporters in its recent investigation has uncovered how South African Cable TV company DSTV has maintained monopoly in the cable-satellite TV industry over the years and why Nigerian Lawmakers choose to remain silent over the lingering and persistent clamp down on emerging companies like the newly launched TSTV which is viewed as a strong competitor  by Nigerians.

More is yet to surface about bribes in cash which have been reportedly doled out by DSTV to third party channels, and our Nigeria regulatory agencies.

Secret reporters confirmed from two serving Senators who craved anonymity that apart from other incentives, lawmakers in the upper and lower chambers of the House also enjoy free uninterrupted premium cable TV services courtesy of DSTV in their residence, offices and official quarters.

We gathered that DSTV has a non written agreement with the leadership of each NASS that comes onboard, where they are spoilt with such pecks of patronage, thus gagging them from allowing free hands to any other cable network who refuses to play such ball. “TSTV are their own problem. Did they ever tell us what to gain or if they will give us free subscription till we leave office like their counterpart did. You don’t just come to a place and not learn how things work”, one of the Senators told this medium.

Further investigations carried out by Secret Reporters revealed that the House Committee on Information alongside ICT will be mandated to tell TSTV to shift their official launching, to allow room for ‘terrestrial’ negotiation with DSTV. Our insider sources within the Assembly revealed that this supposed plan is to make the public who are waiting for the launch to get disappointed in TSTV and lash out at them for raising their hopes and dashing it.

Meanwhile DSTV is currently facing legal battle with a film producer, Mr Lateef Onida and his LAT-Larry Film Company for airing his movie, Aroni Rogun Matidi on 27th July 2012 at 5pm via their Yoruba Africa Magic channel till 30th July 2012 without permission from the filmmaker.

The case is before a Federal High Court, Lagos State presided over by Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo will slam DSTV with N25 million payment to the movie producer if found guilty.
